Use
your right to remain silent! There is no such thing as a 'safe' statement
Linkse
Hulp and the Arrestantengroep are campaigning together to draw
attention to prisoners' statements made to police and judiciary.
Lately a number of activists have made statements when they were
arrested, despite the fact that you always have the right to remain
silent. We advise everyone to make use of this right.By making statements
to the police or judiciary, no matter how innocent your comments
might appear at first sight, you will be endangering not only yourself
but also your fellow activists.
Do not contribute to your own and each others' convictions,
but use your right to remain silent!
This is a lot easier if you are confident about why you are keeping
your
mouth shut, so get informed beforehand!
Brochure by Linkse Hulp with lots of
background information explaining why it is better to remain silent.
Chapter 5 from the book "Tips
against Bars" about interrogations and how to arm yourself
against them. (In Dutch, translation coming up)
"Do you love your freedom and do you want others to have theirs?
Then make use of your right to remain silent during an interrogation!
After all, you didn't get this right for no reason, even the lawmakers
and the police realize that 'owning up' usually means doing time."
